We all love a little fast food now and again, but I also love it when I can reproduce my favourite fast food treats at home with a minimum of fuss! Whether it’s that “special sauce” that makes burgers taste amazing or that classic fast food dessert from childhood, being able to make these recipes at home is now super easy and fun too.

So here is a selection of some of my favourite McDonald’s inspired recipes that are not only delicious but easy to make at home. Which recipe will you be trying this week? Let me know in the comments below!

Home Made McDonald’s Big Mac Sauce

While the actual recipe is a closely guarded secret, my home made version of the iconic condiment in a must make! This version is super easy to make and is very close to the original. Perfect for using on hamburgers, sandwiches, as a dipping sauce or even as a salad dressing. Great for parties or barbecues!

Home Made Hash Browns

Hash Browns have been part of the McDonald’s Breakfast Menu for decades and have become one of the chain’s most beloved menu items. Grated potatoes are combined with flour, egg and your choice of herbs and spices, then lightly pan fried until crispy and golden. Delicious and easy to make, these little babies will go like hot cakes. Perfect for a relaxed weekend breakfast or whenever you fancy a crispy potato snack!

McDonald’s Classic Grilled Chicken Snack Wraps

This tasty little snack was introduced to McDonald’s here in Australia during the early 2000’s and were an immediate smash hit! Juicy chicken tenderloin fillets are coated in a lightly seasoned batter then seared until golden. Combined with crunchy lettuce, mayonnaise and served on a warm fluffy tortilla, these are great for lunch or a quick snack.

Home Made Sausage and Egg McMuffins

Sausage and Egg McMuffins have been a long-time favourite of the McDonald’s Breakfast Menu. This home made version features a thicker sausage patty than the original (I love a chunky breakfast burger!) which is fried until golden then served on a toasted english muffin with a fried egg and some cheddar cheese. Perfect for a weekend breakfast with friends, this classic fast food recreation is all ways a hit when feeding a crowd.

McDonalds Style Fried Hot Apple Pie

I was shocked to here that this classic fast food dessert has been replaced in some markets by an arguably inferior baked version. My home made version of the classic deep fried pie features delicious diced green apples that are combined with brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cooked until soft and sweet, the apples are enveloped in puff pastry then deep fried until golden and crisp. Delicious fresh from the fryer, this is a fun fast food themed cooking project to try out this weekend!
